Sunshine & Photographs

My sister and her two kids came down from the country for a sleep over last night. In between entertaining & feeding 5 kids under nine we managed to do a photo shoot of ebay items to sell and also of my new scarves to go on madeit. I was very excited to find out today that I can have a stall at the Daylesford Makers Market on November 6th (yes this Saturday) and the Sisters' market at St.Kilda Town Hall on December 11th - it should be a very busy market just before Christmas!!! My head is spinning just thinking about how many scarves I need to get made for my five upcoming markets!!!

I do love my birds.....

And this Liberty is fab!!! A birdseye view map...

When the kids were finally all in bed and quiet we peeped into my daughter's room to find her snuggled up with her younger cousin in the same sleeping bag - too cute!!!!
The visitors have now left and everybody is a little tired. I have a very busy date with my friend the Pfaff tomorrow!!!!

Market Day

I enjoyed a lovely day at the Sisters' Market on Saturday with my friend Amanda. In between coffees, pretzels and lots of chat we managed to sell some scarves and dresses. A most successful start to my market campaign. I didn't realise how stressed I was about the market until I felt the relief once it was over!! At least now I can focus on other things for awhile - like my family, my very untidy house, overflowing ironing basket, school fete etc. etc. And what a glorious Sunday to spend with the family!!!

Nilly There!

In just over two weeks I am taking long service leave (makes me sound old!) from my 'real' 4-day a week job. I do not return until next year. I am really looking forward to some time at home with Mstr.3 and also being able to help out at school with Mstr.8 and Miss.6. It will just be so nice to take off one of my many "hats" and concentrate on being Mum! Of course, there is also the allure of a little bit more time with my friend the Pfaff!! I am having a stall at the Sisters' Market in Brunswick on October 9th as well as the Flemington Twilight Market on November 13th. I am busily making what I hope will be enough scarves to take with me. Somewhere in between we are going to Queensland for two glorious weeks.........maybe Pfaff should come too?

To market, to market.....

I am VERY excited to have been accepted to display (and hopefully sell!!!!) my wares at the Sisters' Market in Brunswick on Saturday October 9th. The next couple of months are going to be very busy indeed! Scarves to make, work 4 days a week at my "real job", a 2 week family holiday in Queensland, and all of the other household duties that come with caring for 3 children and a hubby. Thankfully at this point I am feeling inspired. I am hoping to keep "overwhelmed" at bay! I have just updated my Nilly Design Store on madeit so check out my new designs! I would love to hear from anyone who has had a stall at the Sisters' market - how did you go? Any tips for success?

Winter Grey

Now that I have my Summer sewing frenzy out of my system I am back to the reality of Winter Grey. Not in a negative way as I have finished a couple of projects that were cluttering up my sewing space. The jacket is a Vogue pattern (2211) I have had for years. It is double wool cashmere - so deliciously warm! I decided against the welt pockets with such thick fabric and created my own gathered pouch pockets which really set it off.
My second finished project is a striped denim grey skirt. I have created a "prize winning" ruffle in red and white stripe as well as bias binding the hem. A collection of red buttons finish it off. It looks great with my new jacket and black boots. Not so Winter Grey after all!

More Summer Sewing

I'm on a roll! Mind you my house is very untidy, the washing basket is overflowing and none of the beds were made this morning - oh well, somethings "gotta" give!!!

I make my daughter a new white "peasant" top every Summer. So cool to wear, washes up beautifully and goes with everything. The shorts are a new project. They have front and back pockets and a mock fly front. They have bands at the bottom of the legs and an elasticised back waist. She's mad about them!! Hoping to list both items on Nilly Design on madeit.com.au

Nilly Summer???

All of this cold weather is making me yearn for Summer! Don't get me wrong though, I grew up on a farm with tank water, so I have a fine appreciation of rain. Nonetheless I have delved into my Summer cottons in my "stash" and made up a couple of lovely dresses for my daughter. I am thinking of adding them to my "Nilly" shop. I have some other ideas for children's Summer clothes as well...........it's all about having the time..........

On a steep learning curve....

I have much to learn about blogging but figure if I stick to a little talk and lots of imagery I won't bore anyone too much. Now that my scarves are "launched" my mind has started ticking over some ideas for Summer dresses - for my daughter, and if successful, for my shop (madeit.com.au - Nilly Design). Have I mentioned that already????

Nilly Started!

I have skirted around blogging for some time now. I read lots of other people’s blogs and marvel at their creativity. I am not sure that my blog will quite measure up! However, I have just launched my first store on madeit.com.au called “Nilly Design” and I am selling scarves made from pure linen and the finest Liberty of London cottons. I am very excited to be started and hope to add lots of other interesting items in the future. See what you think and let me know!
